When you first start your diet one of many things you will learn right away is that maintaining a food journal is very helpful. Keeping your foods log not only helps you see clearly what you are consuming, it helps you see what you are not eating. For example, after maintaining a food journal for a few days, you might see that you are not consuming very many vegetables but that you are consuming lots of sugar and bad carbohydrates. When you write everything down you are able to see which parts of your diet must change as well as have an easier time figuring out what kind and how long of a workout you need to do to shrink your waist line and burn the most calories.

But what happens if you write every single thing down but still cant figure out how to lose fat? There is a great way and a lazy method to track the food you eat. A food log is more than just a straightforward list of the foods you eat during a day. You need to record a few other very important information. Here are a few of the points you need to do to be more productive at food tracking.

What type of feelings are you in whenever you eat? Write it down! This can help you pinpoint when you use foods to help soothe emotional issues. It also makes it possible to see clearly which foods you are inclined to choose when you are in certain moods. Many individuals will reach for junk foods if we are disappointed, angry or depressed and will be more likely to choose healthier options when we are happy or content. Not only will this allow you to notice when you reach for precise foods based on your mood, it will help you find ways to keep healthier (but similar) selections on hand for those same moods and help you figure out whether or not someone professional can help you deal with the issues that are sending you towards certain foods in the first place.
